Friendship

I had a lovely long chat with a very good friend this evening. It is great to catch up with people and I must make more effort to chat more often. I think we underestimate the value of a good friend sometimes- well maybe I do. You can't beat an invigorating natter. It is worth looking up and recognising life affirming relationships.

Yes, middle tree and I will be making glass or doing some silver jewellery together next weekend! What a lovely idea. It is wonderful to have daughters who take an active interest in what you are doing. This mother/ daughter thing is two way. I sooo love creating and teaching others to do the same.

I came home from work to a fabulous bowl of homemade soup ( dear husband!). I think this is his forte! Yummy, lucky me.

New glass window hangings

Gosh I am so slow at this game! I have taken most of the day to photograph, resize and list on etsy. Oh yes , I also went for a walk, tidied up after dinner guests last night and completed 3 more glass hangings adding the confetti, paint, wire and other details. Spose that's not too bad. I must be kinder to myself!

Birthday

It is the middle tree's birthday today and I am down here and she is in London :(. My thoughts always turn to their actual birth at this time. She was so easy and was the sweetest little bundle you could imagine. I remember her older sister visiting us in hospital wearing her nurses uniform that she had been given that Christmas. All the nurses thought she was amazing. I know they both went out to celebrate last night so I hope they had a good evening. I am looking forward to middle tree coming down next weekend. More pressies!

Early morning- ish!

What a lovely morning it is. Bright yet frosty! I have been attempting to photograph out in the garden but as usual, I am too impatient to wait for the sun to come round to the back garden fully. I have found it really hard to capture glass well enough to show the wonderful jewel- like colours and detail that you can see in real life. Maybe I could find a good course to help me with this. Meanwhile, I am going to try later today.

It is so lovely that I want to go for a walk in the countryside. I am really lucky because  not far away from here is a beautiful village that we enjoy strolling around.

Sunshine now for more photos

One new window hanging on a dull day!

Making day

I have managed to drill holes in my new work but have not added the loop hangings yet. They are looking quite good, but the light has been so poor that I have taken not very good photos. I am only going to post one of them now and hope that tomorrow will bring better weather. I have begun recording how I make my glass too. So hopefully that will be on my blog soon.

My eldest daughter came down for a dress fitting ( she is going to be a bridesmaid) and so I was able to spend a few hours with her before she scurried back to London.

I need to go and get ready in a minute as we have friends coming round for a meal and cards later. I cheated and bought the dessert! Oh well, life is too short.

Morning plans

I can't wait until the morning. I am hoping to take photos of my latest glass after drilling the holes for hanging this evening.

Two very different things I have made

Blog I am reading

I have just added a new blog to follow. I love the designs and items that they make. What a great name too- Once Upon a Time in the North! It appeals to the reader in me. It also opens up possiblities as stories begin in such a way. What story will they tell? Whenever I look at their work I want to rush off and sew something. But I am trying to keep my focus on glass work at the moment. This is rare for me as I usually rush from one creative activity to another, often with a complete change of material/medium.

Visit to London

I had a great time today at the Design Museum. The fashion drawing exhibit was really interesting. Walking back along the embankment past London Bridge made me realise what a lovely invigorating city London is. There were some amazing buildings. One was so cleverly designed using black glass  that it was hard to see. It reflected the building around it but became invisible almost! Well done to the architect/designer!

There are so many lovely smells from doorways of tiny independent cafes and food shops too.

I have been taking photos of my glass work with my daughters help as well, thoughthe light has not been good today. They need adding to my etsy shop later. I am learning to resize my photos slowly but surely!
